You Can Miss "Miss March" - But If You Go - Craig Robinson Is Worth It

Nearly every review of "Miss March", an attempt at an Apatow-like sex comedy, has been horrible.

However, nearly every review also says that Craig Robinson steals the movie! No big surprise to us Office fans!

One such example comes from Examiner.com:

"Now, even though Miss March was largely disappointing, there were a few highlights. Like I said, most of the jokes fell flat, but there were a few occasions where I laughed out loud at jokes that were legitimately funny. The one character that was consistently hilarious throughout the flick was Horsed**k.MPEG, played perfectly by Craig Robinson, better known as Darryl on The Office. On The Office, Robinson steals almost every scene he's in and that's exactly the case here, as was also the case in Pineapple Express and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. It's easy to see why Robinson is quickly becoming a go-to actor for a supporting character role."

Have you seen "Miss March"? Do you agree Craig was the only bright spot?

Craig Robinson - Live

Hello my fellow Dundermaniacs!

Last night I took in Craig Robinson's stand-up act at Southern Connecticut State University and it was a riot!

Upon taking my seat you could already see the perfect setup for Craig on the stage. A single chair, a microphone and an electric keyboard for him to play.

After a lukewarm reaction to the opening comedian, Craig was introduced and the audience met him with a roar of applause and cheers. He walked right to his chair, cleared his throat and began to play a very powerful classical sounding piece of music, which then segued into the music of "If You're Happy And You Know It" - without Craig singing, and the audience instinctively clapped our hands at the appropriate part. Then came verse two, and the audience again clapped their hands - that's when Craig BANGED on the keyboard and yelled "It's stomp your feet mother#&*#^#s"!

THAT was the opening of the show that lasted about 45 minutes and had the audience laughing throughout. Craig played songs and had the audience singing along all night. Songs included Eye of the Tiger, Summer Loving, All My Life, Here Comes the Bride, and many many others - each one interspersed with Craig's own words and hilarity.

Craig then did some Q&A from the crowd after his set. We learned that he believes Steve Carell is one of the funniest people he's ever met, and Will Farrell is hilarious at every moment. Craig had no idea if Daryl will stay with Kelly in the long run, he doesn't know what Daryl is doing every week until he gets to the table read for each episode. He is not going to put out a music album anytime soon - at least not until he gets a bit "older and wiser" and he loves working with Judd Apatow.

The closing number? His song from the "Local Ad" episode of "The Office" and then right into The Office theme. Brilliant!

After the show, Craig stayed around and did a meet and greet with fans and as I made it out of the auditorium, the line was already wrapped around the hallway and back to meet him.

If you ever see Craig is coming anywhere near you for his act, you need to get there. You won't be disappointed. Excuse the blur of the photo - cameras were not allowed, so I snuck that one. Yeah, I'm all about breaking the rules for our readers!

Craig Robinson is there Just For Laughs

The site, Hollywood Today, filed this report about Craig Ferguson and Craig Robinson's performances at the comedy festival.

"Elvira Kurt never slept with Ferguson, despite his buoyant assertion, as he brought her on stage. She came out dressed, as she put it as “a tiny gay businessman.” She gave a scathing dissection of relationships when they reach that point when neither party knows enough to leave one alone.

Craig Robinson of ‘The Office” fame, on keyboard and on cue, seems to exemplify this tendency, by parlaying a single line “take your panties off, into a riotous session of audience participation. As Robinson told Hollywood Today, “The Office made all of this possible. I was here ten years ago and now, I’m playing to sold out crowd. TV does wonders,” he concludes."

Craig Robinson's Crib

The Chicago Tribune recently ran an article with Craig Robinson where he discusses his living situation, movies and of course "The Office"!

"Robinson is the antithesis of Hollywood when it comes to his one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment just outside of Culver City in Los Angeles. "I'm keeping it very simple at this time," he said. "It's so not swanked-out. You know what it is? It's like, OK, I'm not at home a lot, I don't chill at my apartment a lot, and one of these days I'm gonna clean it up and get out of there. That's pretty much what it is."

Craig Robinson Working Just For Laughs

The Hollywood Reporter had this story today:

"OTTAWA -- Comedy producer-director Judd Apatow, "Juno" helmer Jason Reitman and his father, Ivan, will headline Just for Laughs' inaugural Just Comedy conference, running in conjunction with the upcoming 16th annual Just for Laughs festival in Montreal.

Just for Laughs organizers also announced Tuesday a lineup of Hollywood heavyweights lined up for the annual fete that includes Seth Rogen ("Knocked Up"), "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, "The Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson, actor-comedian Larry Miller, Jimmy Fallon, Russell Brand ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall") and "The Office's" Craig Robinson.

In addition, improv legend Ryan Stiles will be at the festival for the first time, joining Greg Proops in "Stiles & Proops: Unplanned"; actor Danny Hoch will present Taking Over, a one-man play about characters in a Brooklyn neighborhood; and author-comedian Greg Behrendt will host the Relationship Show.

The two-day Just Comedy conference will take place at the Hyatt Hotel in Montreal from July 17-18. Apatow, who wrote, directed and produced "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," will receive the conference's first Comedy Person of the Year award, while the Reitmans will participate in an "In Conversation" segment with conference participants.

The conference was the brainchild of Just for Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon, who has teamed with Achilles Media, which runs the annual Banff World Television Festival, to make the idea a reality.

Just for Laughs runs June 27-July 20 at venues in Montreal."

"Darryl will keep showing up, doing his thing and getting out of the way," he said. The fans "sometimes say we need to see more Darryl. I'm like, 'Darryl is happy just to be part of the team, in whatever role he's playing.' "

And I just HAD to use this old headshot of Craig's... hehe.

Scrantones Concert

Ok,

So, I never really got around to writing about the Scrantones concert that went on during last year's Office Convention. Maybe I still will someday, it was one of the coolest things I've ever been to.

However, I just found this video on YouTube that shows MANY of the cast performances from the show. It's GREAT! Check it out!
