Melora Tunrs out the Lights

As mentioned in her MySpace blog (and our post about said blog), Melora Hardin is not in want of work.

New York Magazine reports that the actress will star in the new FX drama Lights Out as an orthopedic surgeon and wife of a former heavyweight boxer now working as the shake-down man for a bookie.

Melora Hardin just sent us the information that she will be performing in an upcoming cabaret show at the Renberg Theater in Los Angeles.

The show supports the LA Gay & Lesbian Center’s free and low-cost programs for the community, and will run from March 20 through March 22.

Melora's MySpace Blog

While Jan's been out on maternity leave, it seems like Melora Hardin has been very busy. Her most recent MySpace blog announces that she'll be starring as Roxie in the Broadway production of Chicago (see the ScrantonBranchOffice article about that HERE), starting Dec 29th!

Melora is also coming out with a new album with some of her own music, and she and her husband have co-produced/written/directed/starred in a film, You, that will be viewable soon.

Turns out "Serenity by Jan" isn't the only thing she's been working on...

Jan moves from Scranton to 'Chicago'

For the first seven weeks of 2009, Melora Hardin will trade in her Office digs for a jail cell as she steps into the role of murderess Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning production of Chicago on Broadway.

This is not her first foray into the world of musicals. This summer (as you may remember from posts right here on Scranton Branch Office) Melora starred as Fantine in a Hollywood Bowl concert version of Les Miserables.

Ed Helms on USC Improv Panel

USC is hosting a huge improv event where students from all around will be gathering to celebrate the joy that is improvisational comedy. Of COURSE "The Office" will be part of the fun.

"This year, Ed Helms ("The Office") and Kaitlin Olson ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") are panelists, among many others.

Last year's festival featured "The Office's" Angela Kinsey and Melora Hardin, who spoke about improv's impact on their show.

"The cast almost entirely improvises; even though it's a scripted show ... [improv] is definitely why those people were cast," Reed said of "The Office."
