John Krasinski Going to Sundance!

From E!: "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, the writing-directing debut of The Office star John Krasinski, has been announced as one of the 64 films screening in competition next month at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The dark comedy about a scorned anthropology student's quest to figure out why her latest boyfriend dumped her, based on a book by the late David Foster Wallace, reunites Krasinski with his former small-screen love interest Rashida Jones and also stars Timothy Hutton and Julianne Nicholson."

The Answer

Rashida Jones and Natalie Portman have found the answer to the current global economic crisis...

Thanks to Paige for the tip!

Greg Daniels Brings Back Rashida Jones!

Ok, so, it's not for "The Office" but for the Greg Daniels led show starring Amy Poehler.

OfficeTally broke the news with a quote from Michael Schur (writer for the new show) that Rashida is indeed on board and will be playing a nurse named Ann - so, can we officially say this isn't an Office spin-off now?

The Return of Karen Filippelli???

TVSquad is sending in this report from the NBC Press Meetings...

"As for the multiple ideas from Daniels and Schur, Silverman said that "they came up with two ideas, one which is totally a spinoff which they're pursuing planted inside, using Office characters, and there was a parallel concept that's stylistically like The Office, but not part of the Office world." They and Poehler thought she was a better fit with the latter, so that's where the concentration of Daniels and Schur is at the moment.

But it doesn' t mean that the direct spin-off is dead. When asked about Aziz Ansari and Rashida Jones during the post-panel scrum, Silverman mentioned that they're both part of what he said are the "Greg Daniels players," and said that Jones in particular would likely come back in the direct spin-off. That means we'll probably see more of Karen Filippelli. Does that mean we're going to see the workings of the Dunder-Mifflin Utica branch, where she landed the job as the regional manager? Or will she be somewhere else? Only time will tell."

Rainn Wilson and Greg Daniels Conference Call

Hello Dunderheads!

I just had an amazing time this afternoon. I was on a media conference call with Rainn Wilson and Greg Daniels for the past 90 minutes. I will have my full interview with them up in the near future, but I wanted to share some tidbits for you that they both shared!

There is new information here, and nothing too spoiler-like, but if you're a puritan for Office, you may want to stop reading now.

For the rest of you, here's some of the fun facts that I've gleaned from the call.

- There was a Christmas Episode mostly finished before the strike. Greg stated that they are going to vulture some of the material from it for the future.

- Rainn Wilson has a Dwight bobble-head on a shelf in his house. His 3 year old son used to love playing with it.

- John Krasinski will be the 'host' of the April 3rd airing of the past four Office episodes and will shows clips from "Leatherheads" too.

- Schrute Space (Dwight's Blog) on NBC.com used to be written by Rainn, however this year he's handed the reigns over to a staff writer to do Schrute Space.

- There was a cameo written for Mackenzie Crook (Gareth Keenan on the BBC "Office") earlier in the show. It never came to pass because Mackenzie was busy with Pirates of the Carribean.

- The producers of "The Office" have a deal with the producers of "Unhitched" so that they could still use Rashida Jones (Karen) on the show. They have one more 'use' left in that current agreement.

- Greg Daniels stated that they are looking into "playing with time" on the show. Kind of like LOST. [I think this means we could see some flashbacks. Wouldn't it be great if they did flashbacks like Friends used to?]

- Angela's real-life pregnancy will not be written into the show (Kate Flannery mentioned this in her blog too). You'll see Angela behind the copy machine a lot.

- We're going to see some of Dwight's ex-girlfriends and those storylines in the future.

So, keep checking back often to see when we put up the full interview!!

Rashida Jones Says There Is No Nepotism in Hollywood

For those of you who missed S.A.T. class...

nep·o·tism (np-tzm)
n.
Favoritism shown or patronage granted to relatives, as in business.

Here's what Rashida Jones says, to Details magazine, about the existence of nepotism in Hollywood:

"Mindful of her parents’ admonition that “nothing should be handed to you,” Jones got her college degree before trying her hand at the family business. And even then, she says, nepotism wasn’t a factor. “People don’t believe this, but Hollywood really is a meritocracy. There are too many jobs on the line for anyone to do any favors, and nobody has ever said, ‘Let’s give that girl a part because her father is famous.’”

You can read the rest of the article HERE. And yes girls, the article mentions John Krasinski too.

Rashida at Fashion Week

Karen isn't the only one who likes running around in New York City.

This week is Fashion Week in town and Rashida Jones is here to enjoy it all.

I've seen a ton of articles about her being there and one can read one from The Observer HERE.

"Rashida Jones of NBC's The Office told us that Domino will feature her New York apartment in their February issue. “It always looks like life is perfect and cute in these magazines,” she said. “But now being a subject and a reader, let me tell you, my life will look perfect and cute, but it’s not!”"
