The Office Convention II News!

Guys, this just in from the folks at www.TheOfficeConvention.com! SO excited! You know TheTwoCents/ScrantonBranchOffice will be ALL over this as we keep going forward.

RE: One-Year Anniversary

It seems like just yesterday, but a full year ago - on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at 7 a.m. - Al Roker of The Today Show kicked off a live broadcast from the University of Scranton flanked by a dozen cast members from The Office and about 1,000 screaming fans. The Office Convention was born!

Over the next three days, nearly 10,000 people converged on the City of Scranton from across the nation. A few Dunderheads ventured to the Electric City from as far away as England and Ireland! We all had the time of our lives, and we think many of you did, too.

But we'll cut right to the question on everyone's mind: Was The Office Convention a one-and-done experience? Well fans, we are pleased to report that you may once again have an opportunity to celebrate The Office in Scranton.

Currently, the Corporate Party Planning Committee is aiming for fall 2009. But don't mistake this for an official announcement - we simply wanted to update everyone on the current status of The Office Convention II. Throughout the past year, we have stayed in constant contact with the show, and they're still buzzing from last year's event, which was a unique opportunity for them to reach out to their fans.

So, what are the plans? Well, to be bigger and better, of course! Much like the first convention, we will make the date and details known when we're sure they're solid, but for now things are looking hopeful. We're currently in the process of discussing venues and mapping out new and exciting event concepts for TOC II. We're building the weekend around the same basic structure as the first one, but taking it to a whole new level. Suffice to say, it will most certainly be worth the wait.

Speaking of waiting, the committee would like to take this opportunity to apologize for going so long without saying hello. For the past few months, all of us here in Scranton have been a caught up in our new role as the "Center of the Universe." You can't swing a political sign in Scranton without hitting a Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidate these days. Perhaps you saw the Joe Biden skit on SNL (pure hilarity by the way), or the Wall Street Journal article, or the Nightline piece, or any number of other political reports that place Scranton in the middle of the most important election of our time.

Once this is all behind us, the planning committee will be able to concentrate on what's most important - The Office Convention II. In fact, we have tentative plans to head out to the West Coast to share our preliminary vision with the show and get this ball rolling. So, once again we ask that you stayed tuned to www.theofficeconvention.com for updates, and that you try to get yourself mentally prepared for a spectacular weekend next fall.

Until we meet again in Scranton!
