ReplyDeleteMichael comes to work dressed as Willy Wonka. My husband says he called it. Whatever. The title is “Golden Ticket”. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, pal.
Michael put Golden Tickets into random boxes of paper that offer the customer 10% off. Michael is very proud of himself, of course.
Andy is back from his honeymoons, by the way. He gives Kevin dating advice and it’s not good. Pam and Jim chime in with their advice. Andy thinks you should always give backhanded compliments. He would.
One of Jim’s clients found a golden ticket. It was Blue Cross and that’s DM’s largest account. Apparently, they found all 5 tickets and the tickets don’t specify that they’re one ticket per customer. That’s a huge profit hit.
Then Michael tries to deny that he came up with the golden ticket idea. David Wallace calls for Michael and he skirts the call. The group is afraid they’re all going to get fired. Jim is mad because he has a mortgage and he just lost a ton of money today. Michael says he shouldn’t have bought a house to impress Pam.
David Wallace calls again and Michael takes the call. David demands to know why he did this golden ticket thing. Michael tries to make excuses and blames Dwight. Michael calls Dwight in to his office. He tries to congratulate Dwight on his golden ticket idea. Michael even consults his “diary”, but Dwight actually keeps a real diary and it shows that Michael really came up with the idea.
Jim, Pam, and Andy give Kevin more advice. Then in a talking head the three of them argue and there’s something about barbecue sauce. I have no idea what that was all about.
Michael asks Dwight to take the fall for his awful idea. Also, Michael has an idea for a fancy men’s shoe shop called “Shoe-la-la”. Michael has an awful lot of ideas.
David Wallace shows up to the branch. David says he hopes that Dwight wasn’t fired because Blue Cross was so excited about the golden ticket deal that they now want to use DM for all their office supplies. David congratulates Dwight on his brilliant idea and Dwight says “Thank you”. Oh yeah, take that Michael!
David announces to the office that the golden ticket idea is one of the most brilliant ideas EVER and Michael gets all jealous. Michael asks Dwight how he came up with the idea. Everyone just fawns all over Dwight while Michael turns about 50 shades of green.
There’s a meeting via conference call where Dwight talks about how he came up with the golden ticket idea. Michael listens in and can’t stand it anymore. He bursts in the conference room and says that the idea was really his. There’s a lot of talk about toilet inventions and Pam vigorously takes notes. David asks for the truth and Michael and Dwight admit that Michael made Dwight take the fall for him. Michael just wanted the credit because He. Needs. To. Be. Liked. I don’t think this show can stress this enough. Michael desperately needs acceptance.
Kevin meets Lynn (from the Blood Drive singles mixer) in the parking lot and asks her to go out with him while Andy cries in the window lamenting Kevin’s “huge mistake”. Poor Andy.
This episode had some funny moments, but it was still pretty lackluster and predictable for my taste. Not as many cringe-worthy moments as I’d have liked. What did you think? Also, if you can explain to me about the barbecue sauce, that’d really be helpful.
