BackStage Features Craig Robinson

Backstage is an actors newpaper and today the posted a nice little article with Craig on their website.

They talk about The Office of course and also his Driving School project and more.

"Things may have panned out well at Dunder Mifflin, but like the hard-working Darryl, Robinson is hardly one to rest on laurels. This summer he filmed Mr. Robinson's Driving School, a series of 16 short webisodes (www.drivingschool.msn.com) about two rival driving instructors who compete for a retiring instructor's driving empire."

Safe From The Shark

You know the expression "Jump the Shark"?

If not, the website says:
"Q. What is jumping the shark?
A. It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it "Jumping the Shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.

The term "jump the shark" was coined by site founder Jon Hein's college roommate of 4 years, Sean J. Connolly, in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 1985. This web site, book, film, and all other material surrounding shark jumping, are hereby dedicated to "the Colonel."

The aforementioned expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history."

Well, here's the Office page. Not close to jumping. PHEW! We will put a link button to it on The Branch Office though so we can keep track of it!

If Office would have jumped the shark - what's your reason it would have?

TV Guide Fall Preview

What a GREAT web tool! It lists every show, new and returning, all kinds of information.

The Office
Premiere: Thursday, September 27, 9 pm, NBC

Where we left off: Jan Levenson (Melora Hardin) lost her job but got a new set of breasts to win back Michael Scott (Steve Carell). Ryan (B.J. Novak), the one-time intern, was promoted to a job in Dunder-Mifflin's corporate office.

What's next: Jan moves into Michael's condo as her new assets rekindles their romance. And we'll finally have the satisfaction of seeing Jim and Pam get together — we think. "It's not necessarily what (fans) want to happen or think is going to happen," says executive producer Greg Daniels. "But I don't think we'll have an angry mob on our hands." You'll be seeing less of Rashida Jones, who plays Jim's ex-office squeeze Karen, and more of Ed Helms and Craig Robinson, now full-time regulars. The season will start with four hour-long episodes, but Daniels won't be filling them with scenes from the cutting-room floor. "It will be a lot tighter and have a lot more stuff happening," he says. "We're trying to approach it like a comedy movie."

Roy's Brother in Earl Video

This mock charity song video is for My Name is Earl - but a face in the crowd is from our Office Universe!

Look for Michael Patrick McGill in the video (played "Feminist Shirt Guy" on Earl) who is known to us as Kenny Anderson (Roy's Brother).

NBC Putting Office on Amazon

Bye bye iTunes - Hello Amazon.

NYTimes has the story.

"The media conglomerate, part of General Electric, said yesterday that Amazon had agreed to give it something that Apple would not: greater flexibility in the pricing and packaging of video downloads. As a result, NBC Universal said it had agreed to sell a wide variety of television programming on Amazon’s fledgling Unbox download service, including the drama “Heroes” and the comedies “The Office” and “30 Rock.” Episodes will be available on Unbox the day after they are shown."

An Interview About Nothing!

So, Entertainment Weekly has a funny interview with Angela and Rainn.

Now, the website says "Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey celebrate their season three DVD release by interviewing each other--hilariously" but unless you listen really carefully you may miss any mention of the DVD.

But - all that said - they were right - it is hilarous! Especially Rainn's little song about Angela's cousins.

PBP likes Office on TBS

The PalmBeachPost has put up a little blurb about the Office coming to TBS.

"And if there's a cuter, more adorable star-crossed TV couple than Jim and Pam, please tell me who it is."

Some Office Convention Speculation

Ok, grab the nearest grain of salt and take it with this information.

I don't doubt this info is good, but it wasn't given to me officially from anyone in the Convention Committee but it was given to a good source of TheTwoCents.

Here are some tidbits for you:

- "[Greg]Daniels and NBC are behind the convention all the way."

- "They thought about bringing everyone, cast and crew, out for a week to shoot on location and participate in the convention. But that comes down an HR issue. The convention is during the the actors' vacation week from the show. He can't force them to come out. Convention organizers thought vacation week would be the best time to snag a few cast members. Well, many of them have plans to vacation, hang with family, be on Leno, etc. Attempts to get "headline" actors continues. They will pay if they have too."

I think that is a GOOD sign, we didn't really expect every to show up - did we? But I think ANYONE there would be awesome, and it's apparent they are willing to pay to make that happen. That combined with the actors love for their fans could sway even more. The events themselves will be very fun, celebrities from the show will just make them all that much better! Happy additions if you will!

- "The NBC store will be releasing all sorts of new Office swag at the convention."

Again, how cool is this? We could be among the first ones! The source hints at a special item which I won't totally give away - but we've been hearing rumors about a 'friend' for Dwight on our desks haven't we?

- "Bottom line: expect a great time, regardless. Stay tune to the the convention web site. More details will be emerging."

So, I just wanted to put this stuff out there to help set your expectations. The excitement is that the Convention is still pushing hard to get as many actors as possible and I think a lot could still happen with that! I have a good feeling about it. Just don't expect it to be like when Angela and Brian came out and hung out in Scranton all weekend - I doubt we'll be sitting down with John Krasinski or Jenna Fischer for a beer at Poor Richard's.

Season 3 DVD Comments?

Ok guys,

We need to get the FORUMS started here in the Branch Office. It's really lonely being the only person registered! Come on, you don't want me to be lonely do you? Jim wouldn't leave anyone of his friends lonely, and don't we all want to do what Jim does? Yes, I thought so.

So, that being said...

I want to know what you think of the Season 3 DVD that came out today! Head over to this topic on the Forums and let's discuss - shall we?

A note about the Forums - if you sign up and don't get an email registration - check your spam folder, for some reason they go there a lot.

Can You Tell Michael From David?

That's what this quiz wants to know!

Head over HERE and you can see if you can tell if the quote was from David Brent (BBC) or Michael Scott (NBC).

I got 100%, but admittedly, it's because I knew Michael's lines so well I could tell what he didn't say.

What about you? How did you score?
